The Bristol Happiness Lecture - Saturday 19th May
SATURDAY 19th MAY 2pm to 5pm
With Dr Ilona Boniwell and Dr Chris Johnstone
Two of the UK’s leading positive psychology author/practitioners introduce the new science of happiness and its practical applications.
Over the last century, the science of psychology has focused more on studying human problems than strengths, with about 100 research papers on sadness for every one on happiness. This is changing. In recent years, there has been growing interest in how we can increase joy, satisfaction in life and positive qualities like altruism, courage, optimism and determination. This interest in the positive side of human experience and nature is referred to as positive psychology. It has become both an academic field of study and a movement within psychology.
This half-day of talks introduces some of its core findings and approach. Building on the success of last year’s event, this year’s speakers are:
Dr Ilona Boniwell: Positive Psychology in a Nutshell
Introducing the latest research findings and thinking on the topics of happiness, flow, optimism and motivation. Dr Ilona Boniwell is a Senior Lecturer in Positive Psychology at the University of East
London and author of Positive Psychology in a Nutshell.
Dr Chris Johnstone: Practical Applications
